July’s Release & What’s Next
Aloha and slainte, friends & lovers!
Legend 3 rolled out the factory doors on July 1st - thank you to everyone who made its launch a roaring success. We had a record number of pre-orders, and she’s currently gathering up 5-star reviews like a bee does with pollen - thank you for being so kind and generous in your reviews. Every single one helps, especially indie authors like myself, mahalo.
I took a break this summer to recuperate and take care of myself on my first anniversary of being diagnosed with breast cancer. I’ve got a great team of women medical professionals who warned me that the anniversary mark is a duzy. I prepped for it (visiting with my therapist, getting out in nature, and holding myself in kindness during that time), and luckily, it was a heavy time, but it wasn’t debilitating like it had been last year. It was also helpful that after the launch of book 3 of the legend series all that was left for me to do was to tidy up files and close things down for the summer.
We took full advantage of being post-publication (pre-publication, you don’t want to know me, much less spend time with me 😂) and went on summer adventures. We stayed close this year, travelling through out the PNW.
What did you do this summer?
What’s next?
With readers voraciously consuming book 3, and some very vocal that this had better not be the last (I hear you, Facebook commenters!), good news, it’s not the last! There’s at least one more book in the story; we need to meet someone (who could it be??) from Rowan’s world that he’s been estranged from and dive deeper into a few characters that had been in the background in books 1 - 3, and resolve what to do with the Misty Cliffs Church (hint: maybe some Ethel magic?).
Legend 4…is in the works.
With all the positive feedback we’ve gotten from The Legend of the Brotherhood, Legend 4 has been greenlighted. Thanks for being so vocal in your love of this series!
With the series gaining steam, we’ve been getting questions from audiobook listeners on where the audiobook is. And I’ll have a post about that here in a minute, but the short answer is: It’s coming.
As I mentioned above, next on my writing table is Legend 4. With all the positive feedback, Legend 4 is a go. As I plan how to tell the story of book 4, and begin the juggling act of all these rad characters, I’m also working on a novel I’m calling The Blackhart Brothers. It’s also based in Scotland and is a great new series that Legend fans should enjoy. It’ll come on the heels of legend 4.
The first book of this new series is called The Blackhart’s Rose. You’ll get to meet ex-pro soccer player and current Blackhart manor hermit, Lord Ethan Blackhart, in book 4 of the Legend series. The Blackhart Brothers series is set in a Gothic Scottish manor north of our fictional Glentree on the Isle of Skye. Blackhart will deliver similar vibes as Legend; the setting is moody and will have a stronger botanical element. There will be ghosts, curses, and, of course, a modern Scottish tale of darkness that can only be healed with love. So far, the draft is shaping up to be a slow burn. YUM.
Keep an eye out in 2026 for Legend 4 and early 2027 for The Blackhart’s Rose.
Aloha ka kou my pretties.
